Fantastic Voyage: How We Got Here Storyboard

Image
Heres my final Storyboard for my new Fantastic Voyage animation, this will be my used as a guide for my Pre-Viz which I will use to include sound cues and my voice actor, I tried to keep it short because theres a lot of dialogue in my script, so I tried to keep some continuous shots to one frame and only make the more difficult ones longer. Some scenes from my script I tweaked a bit more visual comedy, especially for the tortoise who's silent in the film, so I wanted them to have more scenes where the Finch isn't aware of it, to make the long scenes with dialogue more interesting and fun.

2000 Word Essay: Draft 01

This is my first draft for my 2000 word essay, and because I wanted to upload this with images this won't be the final layout for the essay and I need to place the images between the paragraphs and alter the word spacing for the final draft. The word count for this is 2,015, so I might have to compress some of the paragraphs if I want to improve it or alter some instead for the final draft.

Fantastic Voyage: Script 02 Edit

After some improvements to the dialogue and the jokes to the Finch character this is what my script is like and what I think I will be running with, until I receive my final feedback from Claire about the technical terms. I defiantly want the Finch to be an unlikable character and narrator in the animation, so I have tried to make his jokes mean spirited, while also staying in the 14-15 age bracket and blend them in with some of the teaching. I am going to make a rough storyboard for this just to lay out how the animation will play out and then compose my shots and music in a Pre-Viz to see how my models will play out.

Fantastic Voyage: Character Orthographs

Image
Before moving into Maya I wanted to try and get the character orthographs done, as they are the elements I feel I need to change the least and if I can get them out of the way, I can try and make a quick Pre-Viz  with them to get a feel for my shots and scenes before trying to make the final animation. I wanted to make the bird more round, because my updated script has more humour in it, and since the Finch is still doing the explaining and making the jokes, I wanted his shape to juxtapose his behaviour and voice; so was thinking about hiring a voice actor with a very masculine, low voice to make the character more interesting and engaging, rather than trying to make his voice and shape match his behaviour.

Fantastic Voyage: Finch Character Design Update

Image
Before I moved onto orthograph's I wanted to update the character of the Finch to suit my updated script as well as to make it more recognisable and dynamic, as it will I want it to feature more prominently in my animation. I think I might go with the brown one because the colour I think will work more effectively in the white sandy scene and against the tortoises shades, which I plan to keep deep blue and grey, so the brown will help it to stand out, while also keeping it looking natural.
