Jetpack Jones: Creating a Turnaround and Static Shots

Image
Finished the turn arounds and the poses for the model, I will try and get the demo reel and the final rendered shots done, but at this point I think it will be at a later date so I can focus more on finishing other elements of Toolkit 02. Looking at these turn arounds and having a chance to move and key in the character I am happy and also feel that this model does need a lot fo work, but I cannot say that I am displeased with the fact that I have finished this. I am aware of how rushed this looks and some of those choices have come into the way the model acts when posing as well as provided some issues with corrective blend shaping and of course the fact the model is unable to blink. I do wish that the model didn't do that, but I am also happy that I got to put all of these issues onto this model as a practise, rather than onto my final third year model. I do feel that this has been a very big learning experience, both in terms of modelling and creating

Despite some rather pressing issues, I have managed to make it to the end of texturing for my model. I am aware of some of the visual differences between the design and my model at this point, and I will try ands solve those issues in the future or if they are un- fixable before the Toolkit 02 deadline I might have to be content with what I have, and when the University opens again try and see if I can open the model in Mudbox using there computers, but despite that I am happy with how far I have come and what I have learned through this process.

Jetpack Jones: Body Texturing

Unfortunately, like the head texturing I have run not into some issues trying to complete the body texturing for my model. One problem I had first was not being able to use Xnormals on my computer, so I had to get someone else to create the Ambient Occlusion maps for my torso and trousers, and then when I applied the texture in Photoshop, I was unable to complete the texturing process in Mudbox, due to the software continuously crashing whenever I tried to open the model, so instead I have had to try and fix some of the shading issues on Photoshop and why there is no button shading or rocket symbol on my model. I don't know at this point what I am going to do, so I might leave the model as it is and continue pushing forward with what I have.

Jetpack Jones: Head Texturing

At this point during the tutorials I have hit a wall on doing the head tutorials. I have managed to apply the skin tone texture on photoshop however upon doing this, with the first set of Uv's I discovered that upon applying them to my model that somewhere between creating the Uv's and now they have changed into the ones on the last image. Because of this, I am unable to take the model into Mudbox and texture the lips and highlight the face, so have chosen at this point to skip this tutorial on my model and run with the plane skin texture I created on photoshop. I am however, planning on completing this tutorial by going back and finding a saved file that has the face Uv's layer out properly and completing the texture and Mudbox process that way, but I don't think I will be doing that until I have at least finished the full model, just to give me a bit of time away from Jetpack Jones so I can finish some other work for Toolkit 02.

Jetpack Jones: Head Base Colours / Sub Surface Scattering

Image
I have adjusted and applied a base colour onto the face of the model, and apart from the issues with the overall look of the model, I am happy with how it has turned out so far. I am liking the model now that I can see what it looked like rendered and with textures, and am starting to feel like he is coming more to life now.

Started adding texture and the base colours onto my model and from the renders that have come out I am happy so far with how the model is looking and how I have applied the textures. I did have a few issues in photoshop because of the side and proximity of my Uv's to each other, but overall I found this process straightforward and easy.

Jetpack Jones: Rivets

Image
Managed to finish placing and connecting the buttons to the model via Rivets, which I found simple and easy enough to follow, with the buttons now successfully joined onto the model and at this point I am seeing no issues with the model, accept for I am having issues with the skull cap, eyes and strap from the third facial rigging tutorial, but because I am texturing in this set of tutorials I am going to wait until I am finished before I see to this issue, so then I can spend more time fixing other possible issues as well.
