Jetpack Jones: High & Low Res Modelling for Normal Maps

Image
I have started on the texturing process and although I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning, I am starting to get more comfortable with the process now I have done this video, however I am still nervous around the process and the idea of baking and trying to apply the various textures and maps onto the model.

Jetpack Jones: Cleaning Up the Scene

Image
After looking over some of my files after finishing this process, I fell that I can move forward onto the texturing, but need to get a few things checked over to be sure. One of the issues I am having is regarding the full body moment using the control key at the bottom, as whenever I move with the blend-shapes for the cap, brows and strap on, they separate from the rest of the body, but I need them to be on to have the face move properly when I use the brows, so I am going to do some investigation to figure it out, but apart from that I feel confident enough to finally progress onto texturing. Edit Note: I discussed the issues and found that the problem was that when creating the blend shape it had to be under the skin-cluster node, and then I had to switch off the inherit transforms on the Geo group and the Misc group in the Do Not Touch Folder.

Jetpack Jones: Brow Movement

Image
I have finally managed to finish the brow movement on the model and unlike the blink tutorial this one has gone well. I couldn't, like the rest of the tutorials manage to get the brows looking exactly like the ones in the tutorial, so I had to make a few adjustments to what they look like, especially on the angry brow, which I feel is a bit exaggerated compared to the surprised brow. But now I know how the process works, I feel that I now have more confidence to do it better in the future.

Premise: Room Design and Development

Image
After finally deciding on a character design for the lead in my story, I decided to take that design and explore I will approach the environment where the story will be set. I wanted to look at making the room look very dull and also mismatched and dated to suit the juxtaposing feeling it has against Drew and how they feel being within the environment and how it feeds into their feeling of loneliness. I want ed to have an obvious focus toward the room looking old and not suited for Drew by looking at dated carpets and duvet designs to show how ill suited the room if for them, so I mainly focused on 50's patterned and designs. I also wanted to explore how I could structure the bed before finally comparing how I wanted the room to look colour wise. I am struggling to decide whether the rom looks good or bad against all the unflattering colours and designs, and as well which room conveys the idea I had for it the most effectively (e.g it previously being a young girls ro

Jetpack Jones: Adding a Blink and Some Issues

Image
After some issues and some problem solving I have managed to finish the blink tutorial, however the model still has some overarching issues one being; I cannot get the eye lids to fully shut. Firstly,  I have been aware that this would be an issue ever since I finished modelling the head for Jetpack Jones and so going into this tutorial, it wasn't a surprise that I would not be able to get the eye lids to fully close because when I made my model I forgot to bulge out the top and bottom lids meaning that their wasn't very much geometry to work with for this tutorial. I did try to fix this issue through the skinning process first, however found that the geometry when weighted would only move up and down the eye, not in and out so I couldn't get the eye lid to un-clip from the cornea. After some wrangling and feedback from others, I decided to do what I could in the skinning process and see if I could then fix some more of the issues through corrective
