JetPack Jones: Creating a Flexible Mouth Rig 3

Image
Finished facial rigging part one and despite some minor adjustments I feel this section went well, and I feel I learned a lot from this section because I had to be aware of my own model and make some minor adjustments. I managed to get the corner controls lined up and mirrored against the joints and parented and keyed the upper and lower mouth controls to the rest of the model.

Finished weighting the controls to the mouth rig and as before I had to make some slight adjustments to the rig because of some missing edged and the share corner of the mouth, and looking at the last playblast I am satisfied with how it has turned out, although I will be giving the controls one more look at with fresh eyes before I move onto the last video, as I have some concerns overall with how it looks in the smooth mode.

Moom Lip-Synch: Body Movement Blocking

Finished adding in the body movement blocking for Moom and with the way it looks now I am happy with how if flows and works together, although I might still makes some minor adjustments along the way to make it more dynamic as well. I tried to have a flow with the movements and match the movements to how the dialogue is delivered, so because I felt it came across quite serious and threatening I imagined Moom appearing and moving quite serious, having the camera be the person the dialogue is being delivered to as well.

Jetpack Jones: Creating a Flexible Mouth Rig 1

Finished rigging the first part of the mount rig for my Jetpack Jones. I found following the tutorial easy as always, however I have had to make some minor adjustments towards my rig because of the way my model is designed, so unlike Alans mouth rig, mine has one main control joint because I have one edge loop away from the centre control and two corner controls on the end, because the edge of my mouth angles like a square rather than a triangle, so when weighting the skin to the controls, I divided up the corner weights 50 /50 on the corner of the mouth edge so they both work when I move their groups around. I will take these adjustments into consideration in the future, but I'm happy with how its going so far and the joints all work in conjunction with the mouth control.
