Moom Weight Lifting Animation

Extremes Only Extremes and Inbetweens Other Keys  Continuing on from the lesson I was able to finish the weightlifting animation to a point where I am happy with the results. At first this animation was tricky as I had some trouble keying the figure between scenes so decided to start again, but eventually I got used to it and started to fill in the missing keys. I started with the Extreme keys and then moved into filling in the two in-between ones as well and then seeing how they made the animation look before trying to fill in the gaps on my own.

Jetpack Jones: Mouth and Face Modelling

Image
Continued to model Jetpack Jones, this time adjusting the face further to suit the orthographs and also starting to model the lips as well. Making and shaping the model has been fine so far, however I don't know if its the Maya on my computer or the mirroring, but the whenever I mirror the face it comes across more sharper than in the tutorial videos, so I'm going to try and get it looked at before I move on in case this is the result of something I did previously. But apart from the shape I'm happy with how it turning out and feel confident to continue onto shaping the eye further.

Astronaut: Tin Toys Mood-board

Image
Tin Rocket Mood-board  Space Gadget / Vehicle Mood-board USSR Body type Mood-board USA Astronaut Mood-board  Robot Villain Mood-board  Moving on from last week, I have started to look at conceit for the character, and mine is Tin toys to add onto my astronaut character. I decided to make this batch of mood boards to help me narrow down designs that I could start producing, starting with the objects I would like to assist the astronaut such as a space ship, a space gadget (like a space bike, space tank, space racer, etc) that could make the story more fun and lighthearted, and for the last set I wanted to look at possible ideas for the villain. The idea for the Robot being a possible villain I got after a conversation about the characters trait, as the tin toys market was mainly producing a lot of robot toys and not a lot of aliens, so that seemed like the perfect choice for an antagonise within the story. I also briefly looked at different toy body si...

Character Design: Spirited Away and Tin Toys

Image
For this lesson we got given another set of prompts and looked at style and environment and how they help influence the characters as well as how they fit within their stories. For my prompt I was given the film Spirited Away, and was told to design a character that could fit in the world, so I looked at and copied a few of the films characters to get a feel for how they worked and their style played into the film, and the character I eventually designed was a wealth spirit, with the mask being a Japanese Hyottoko mask that represents wealth that I decided would be suitable as a lot of the other spirits within the film have different Japanese style masks and designs. We then were told to turn a character from our designated film into the prompt on the second section of our sheet, with mine being tin toys, I decided to turn the reddish spirit from the film into a clumsy looking tin toy, adding a key to the top of his head and adding metal poles to his limbs to make him look mo...

Astronaut: Drawings and Moodboard's

Image
USSR Astronaut Suits  US Astronaut Suits  Continuing from last week I tried to draw more concepts of my Astronaut, looking more at different helmet and suit designs to see which one I might choose to stick with or adapt later on down the project, these designs I think mainly might be for my main astronaut character and then if I wanted to add another I will thumbnail some other outfit designs later. I also made these thumbnails to help me tell the difference between the US and the USSR astronaut suits, as at this point Im thinking about introducing a US and USSR astronaut into my story, and have a heavily re-imagined recalling of the space race between the two countries.

Life Drawing

Image
This week I got the chance to draw using a human model this time, and decided to explore and compare how I draw on different sizes and see how my style changes and adapt's depending on what I draw on. For the warm up I decided to draw on bigger bits of paper, because I don't concentrate on a lot of detail at this point and find that my style is more suited to the bigger canvas as I like to try and capture the whole body and go over mistakes without rubbing them out to save time. During the more longer periods of the session I decided to switch to an A4 sketchbook and concentrate on detail more, especially in the last one which I am most proud of, I tried to capture the surrounding props and shadows around the model to give it hopefully more weight and detail to it.

Collaboration: Uniform Concept Art

Image
As well as designs for the environment, I also decided to get strand on some rough ideas for uniform designs. For the first lot I thought it would an interesting nod to base the uniform deigns off some famous superhero colour schemes, as well as it make it easier to narrow down some designs so they don't become to complicated down the line, my favourite from the designs it the Iron Man one at this point, as I think the colours go nice together and they make an interesting uniform design. But incase we decide that we wouldn't like to do that, I also started on a  few basic designs for uniforms that we could look back on instead.

Collaboration: Gym Concept Art

Image
After looking through some designs I finally came up with some rough concept art we could use to design the gym around, this will be used as the main location for where the skit will take place. The camera and the lights will be in world and stay in one fixed location, and at this point we might also put in some props like a basketball hoop or a sign to show the scale of the room against the size of the children.
