JetPack Jones: Colours and Restrictions

Image
Finally finished rigging the body of my Jetpack Jones, and am happy with what I have and how the controls and the connections have turned out. This was by far the easiest of the tutorial sections and I had a bit of fun going back and remembering how to connect and restrict the joints again, but this time applying it to a human rig and seeing how it all connected and worked on the bigger model.

JetPack Jones: Rigging Arms and Fingers

Finished rigging the upper half of the body, including the hands as well as grouping and connecting the model up to a world control, to allow it to move and be scaled correctly. Again, I am still enjoying this process and am happy to nearly be finished with it, so I can see how the model will move while connected to controls. I am happy with how the model looks and the rigging process has been going well so far, so I am comfortable to move onto the final stages of rigging the body.

Jetpack Jones: Rigging Legs and IK / FK Spine

Image
Finished rigging the spine and the legs for my Jetpack Jones and so far I am enjoying how this process is going, as I am finding it a lot easier and straightforward than the corrective blend shape. I am still struggling to work out how the controls and the joints work, but feel comfortable working with the expressions and the key editor, as we'll as adjusting the controls to suit my model when attaching them. Im excited to get the rest of the body rigged so I can start moving it around and experimenting with how a human model will move with the controls and rigs attached.

JetPack Jones: Rigging the Lower Body (Feet)

Image
Finished rigging the feet for my Jetpack Jones, and unlike the corrective blend shapes I did find this process a lot easier, with the only acceptation being when I had to try and flip the controls on the left and right side roll to make them move oppositly. Looking at the animation, I am happy with how the process has turned out, accept for the right foot dipping, un-evenly on the side roll which I think might be down to an issue with the axis on the groups, so I will try and fix it before moving onto the legs portion of the rigging process.

JetPack Jones: Corrective Blend Shape; Lower Body

After some issues around my joints within my model, I am finally at a point where I am happy with how the corrective blend shapes on my model look and feel that I can finally move onto rigging my model. This section of tutorials has so far been the hardest, especially around getting used to how the blend shape tool works with the pose editor, and when and where I can edit the model while also trying not to warp the geometry at some points. However, truthfully, the model has suffered with a few issues, due to my attempts to adjust the geometry to get it to suit the movements in the pose editor and from this experience I do think a lot of it is down to my skinning and modelling, so although I am upset it has affected the model I am happy that I have experienced this now and now have an opportunity to learn from my mistakes going into my Premise project. I have learned a lot from doing this, and now feel more confident when I will have to re-visit this process again.
