Premise Animatic Update: Seventh Edit

Animatic With New Opening   Animatic with No New Opening  After spending some time away from my project, I finally decided to re-vist it with a fresh new outlook and to edit some of the issues I was having with it. I first decided to change the opening, which I felt didn't work very well within the original animatic, and I wanted something that highlighted the isolation as well as the light that plays a big part in the story. I also re-wrote and cut out sections in the middle, to try and shorten the animatic because I felt that it was dragging to long, and I could condense the story a bit more and still have the same effect.  Unformatuntly, despite me doing this, I don't seem to have made any time difference, despite taking out and editing a large portion of the middle of the story, so I am going to have to be a bit more brutal and get some advice for what to do next, as the story is still too long. However, of the two versions I have uploaded here, the first on...

Premise: Reflective Statement

Looking back at what I have managed to achieve for this project over the last few months, I think at this point that I have done well with what I have finished, but the project itself still needs a long way to go. In terms of the characters and the environment design, I feel that those are the strongest elements I have for the project, especially around the protagonist Drew and how there thoughts and feelings play into the role of the story. I like how in depth I managed to construct the backstory for both the characters and the environment, which I feel in the end has defiantly helped with constructing a story and a continuous theme that I wanted to explore.  I ended up working on this project backwards in someways, by coming up with the character design and backstory before having a story outline, which at the beginning I was hesitant about it majorly effecting the outcome of my story, but for this I feel it gave me more confidence around exploring and developing the story l...

Premise: Animatic Progress (Without Sound) and Story Update

Image
Here is the progress I have been making while developing the animatic for my Premise project. I have been composing it together without sound because in the first couple of tests I knew that I still had a lot of progress and improvements I needed to make the story make more sense. I am planning on adding sound effects for the smaller sounds like the running and breathing portion of the animation because I want it emphasis the silence, as well as the loneliness that Drew feels in the story so I also don't plan on having a soundtrack at this pint in the story because I feel like it will take away from this aspects.

Premise: 3D Light Experiment 04 (Warm Light Experiment)

Initial Test with Colour and Exposure Change Camera Change and Exposure Change Light Decrease Light Increase and Moved Backwards Exposure Decreased and Spread Increased Taking on the lighting and editing from the cold light experiment I decided to apply this and try out the warmer light that appears further along within the animation. I initially liked the strong exposure it was making in the first image, however when I moved the camera and took into consideration the lights placement in the story, I decided the decreasing it would give it a more distance and intriguing appearance than the cold light. With the last image I am happy with how the render turned out and how even though the rest of the room is in pitch darkness, there is still some indication of whats happening.

SkyDome Light Area Light (x3) Directional Light Area Light Base Area Light Increase Further Light Increase Colour Change and Increase Colour Change and Light Decrease After managing to make a portable light I decided to move on and try and make the effect for the cold light that takes place in the beginning of the story. The idea of the light is that its meant to show a disconnect between Drew and the family they are staying with, with the light appearing under the door accompanied by the sound of tv static and chattering. I experimented with a few lights before deciding on using three Area lights, lined up next to the bottom of the door because I felt that it gave the best effect. I then experimented briefly with the colour and the strength of the light and at this point I think I will stick to an intensity of 5.00 and exposure of 0.50 on each of the lights because I felt it was strong enough to reach across the ...

After some more experimenting with the light I decided to a just the colour on the glass and the lights to make it a bit warmer, while also adjusting the strength of the light so it didn't cast such a harsh shadow which I did by getting rid of the bottom light and only having two. I then decided to import it into the simplified room I made, just to see how the light would appear and cover the space. At first I found the light to be too harsh, so I had to reduce both of the lights, having the top one be strong than the bottom light until I found the strength I liked. The last two images I think will be the ones I will use, with the second to last one being the strength for the middle of the story when the light decreases and the last one being at the beginning when its at its strongest.
