What if Metropolis Thumbnails 02: Hero Prop Concepts



Carrying on from my first set of thumbnails, I wanted to try and focus on my hero prop, while still keeping the designs from my first thumbnails so the buildings wouldn't be too different. For this batch, and for my initial design I want my hero prop to be an Opera to carry into the theme of music and the symposia. The initial design although comes from the Globe theatre, because I liked its wide round design and open roof that I felt made it more inviting and open to allow the music to flow out and affect the rest of the set. I looked at different designs including the Globe theatre, as well as the Paris opera to see how different designs are used for the same purpose and how they fit to their environment.

Sound Experiment 04

 Today I decided to record some more natural sounds, this time seeing how the sound of wind would sound through a window before I recorded it outside, as I think the slight whistling noise through the window would make it sound more interesting, I am planning on collecting more natural sounds, but I wanted to see how it would sound before I progressed onwards in case the background noise was too much in comparison to the wind and ruined it.  For the second sound for my second image, I wanted to continue to find something more sharper so I tried to record the sound of cactus spikes, particularly if I ran my fingers through it, as it makes a very sharp, high pitched sound that I think could work better, especially if I could replicate the sound to reflect the more smaller portions of the image.  Lastly I wanted to try and collect a more electronic sound for image one, to match its sharp, electric colours so I wanted to start by recording a microwave, as I thought is humming noi

Premise: Room Design and Development

After finally deciding on a character design for the lead in my story, I decided to take that design and explore I will approach the environment where the story will be set. I wanted to look at making the room look very dull and also mismatched and dated to suit the juxtaposing feeling it has against Drew and how they feel being within the environment and how it feeds into their feeling of loneliness. I want ed to have an obvious focus toward the room looking old and not suited for Drew by looking at dated carpets and duvet designs to show how ill suited the room if for them, so I mainly focused on 50's patterned and designs. I also wanted to explore how I could structure the bed before finally comparing how I wanted the room to look colour wise.
